The village of Cortes de la Frontera, which is five minutes away, is one of the earliest of the Ronda region white villages. Cortes has a rich Moorish heritage and its full name refers to its earlier position on the border between Catholic Spain and Islamic Spain. The area has a long cultural history with several earlier civilisations seeking out the area. There are ancient Roman roads and aqueducts still in use. Ruins of old Roman walls can be found on most walking trails.

This is one of the healthiest natural environments in which to live. It is authentic Spain and yet within easy and fast access to the airports of Malaga, Seville, Jerez and Gibraltar. Good roads and a scenic railway from Algeciras to Ronda stopping in the small village below the town of Cortes. A superb area for horse-riding, walking, birdwatching, caving, mountaineering or just exploring the many off-road adventure tracks through the mountains used by the smugglers of former times.

This finca has a well-stocked working olive grove with over 300 trees, some planted within the last ten years and some over 100 years old. The olive oil produced from it each December is excellent. There are many fruit trees (oranges, lemons, figs, almonds, pears, grapes, cherries and apricots) near the house. The vegetable patch has not been planted this year but could easily be recovered. The land is excellent for keeping horses and is 35,420 m2 (10,000 m2 = I hectare) all fenced and accessed from a tarmac road from the village.

The air is crisp and clear. The fruit and vegetables are chemical free. The man who cares for the olive trees and collects the olives is a healthy and very fit 80 year old from the village.

Finca los Olivos has a comfortable little house with a build area of 100 m2. It has a very large fireplace for woodburning and a huge stock of firewood ready for next winter. It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a newly constructed outside barbecue with its own separate chimney and a store-room/solar battery house. The house is surrounded by a beautiful local stone terrace with stone steps and path down to the car-parking area at the entrance gates. There is sweet mountain spring water in the well and mountain bore water from the bore. All can be easily pumped up to the house water deposit by simply pressing an electrical switch at the house or in the well or bore-house. The house has solar electricity with a back-up diesel generator, all newly installed. There are also many connections over the finca for hosepipes for watering the trees. There was previously an automatic irrigation pipe system for the fruit trees which could easily be re-instated.

The small pool, which is set in the stone terrace near the house, has a water cascade over the stone wall behind it. A pure natural water purification system has been installed so that there is no chlorine and chemicals in the pool water, making it virtually drinkable and any overflow can certainly be used for the garden and house.
